About
John Kanitra, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon and board-eligible vascular surgeon specializing in complex endovascular reconstruction of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and dissections. He performed the first minimally invasive physician modified endograft in Trinity Health Michigan for repair of a complex aortic aneurysm. He brings advanced training from Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and joined the Trinity network to expand its capabilities in comprehensive aortic and vascular care.
Dr. Kanitra’s clinical interests include open abdominal aortic surgery, robotic median arcuate ligament release, hemodialysis access, including care for patients with difficult or previously unsuccessful access; advanced open and minimally invasive limb-salvage procedures; and the treatment of carotid artery disease for stroke prevention. He also manages mesenteric and renal artery stenosis, vertebrobasilar disease, and the full spectrum of venous disorders, including varicose veins.
