After numerous other encounters with Drs who did not understand the condition I was in it was SO REFRESHING to be listened to, to be understood, and to be taken seriously and to be getting the appropriate testing and procedures for what is ailing me. BLESSINGS and THANK YOU
First of all, I had to wait thirty minutes for the provider to arrive, the Doctor. Then, as I explained my concerns, he seemed attentive and helpful, but could have been more thorough in the diagnosis. I have already been to four other doctors concerning this issue, and I was hopeful that this doctor would give me more specific information, for example, is he familiar with this issue, what are the options, the procedures, the outcomes. I had to ask!!! As a teacher and professor, communication is the basis for thorough understanding and a trust relationship between patient and doctor. Personally, I felt as if I was just another patient, and the issue and process were not specifically known nor expressed to me. Doctors need to know that as patients, we are trusting them with solutions, and detailed results of the process. I felt as though I was just another number on his list, another patient to be seen. As a patient, I am also paying a high price for expertise and care. Upon leaving, I felt as if my issue was not that important. Perhaps doctors could put themselves in the opposing chair in an office, and displace themselves as the patient. Change perspective. Show empathy, concern and enthusiasm for correcting the problem, for the cure, for the results, instead of a bland response.
I had a hard time understanding the doctor, due to his annunciation during the consolation.

This was my second visit with this provider. Both times he seemed to really care and he gave me answers and followed up with what he said he would do. I have been seeing doctors for over a year on this issue and he is the first one to actually want to do something besides just prescribe meds which do not take care of the problem.
